Training courses

In the framework of the Mediterranean Wetlands Alliance, eight first training sessions took place between April 2019 and July 2021 in Jordan, Turkey, Albania, Camargue and online. They reached a total of about 80 representatives of 12 CSOs of the Alliance (including members of the network of MedWet Managers). They covered topics as diverse as: a) wetland restoration through water dynamics; b) setting up an advocacy campaign in favour of wetlands; c) creating a national/local wetland observatory, etc. Based on these, standardised educational modules were developed in English and Arabic, to allow any partner to adapt replicate the courses.

The media training helps local journalists to build solid stories about wetlands with a “solution journalism” approach. The training also provides participants with practical tools and information about using and managing scientific data in their everyday work. Using the “Design Thinking approach”, the workshop also has an interactive component where participants can develop ideas for local stories, covering wetland-based solutions in an innovative way.

The “Marine Protected Area Contract: governance in action” course was developed within the project Interreg Med TUNE UP with the aim to provide an overview of the MPA Contract methodology for students, researchers, practitioners and MPAs managers and technicians. The Architecture Department of UNIROMA3 , with the contribution of the project partners developed this open online course available on the Roma Tre University platform upon user registration.
