What we aim for?
MedWet is launching the #SpeakUpForWetlands campaign in the framework of World Wetlands Day 2025 to elevate the voices of people from across the Mediterranean and create a powerful collective message urging decision-makers to take action to protect wetlands.
Wetlands are at the heart of our ecosystems; they are vital to our common future, and we all share the responsibility to protect them.

How can you get involved?
We want YOU to join the campaign by recording a short video answering one key question about the importance of wetlands. These videos will be presented to key leaders and will serve as a united call for action.
Film Yourself
Record a brief, impactful video (40 seconds or less), ideally outdoors near a wetland, or wherever you are comfortable. Then, in a simple, natural and heartfelt language, explain why protecting wetlands is crucial for our shared future. End your message with a call to action to protect and restore wetlands.
No fancy gear? No problem!
Use your smartphone’s selfie camera and a steady hand or tripod. It’s all about your message!
Camera Shy?
If you prefer not to be on camera, that’s okay! You can record just your voice and send us a photo of yourself. We’ll create a video with your photo and message as a voiceover.
Share your message
Once you've recorded your video, send it to us via email to info@medwet.org using WeTransfer. We’ll handle the editing and make sure your message reaches the right audience.
Get Featured
Your video will be shared on MedWet’s social media during World Wetlands Day celebration, and a compilation of the best submissions will be showcased at the 15th Conference of the Convention on Wetlands (COP15), putting your voice in front of global decision-makers.
For participants who are minors in their own country, please provide a dated and signed certificate:
– Name of the organisation or name of the parent is responsible for the videos sent to MedWet representing the name of the child or the name of the group of children (e.g. name of the class concerned).

Get Inspired to Participate
Want to join our campaign but not sure what to say? Don’t worry—we’ve put together some examples of how wetlands benefit humans to inspire you.
Why Do Wetlands Matter for Our Future?
- Keep us safe: they act like nature’s buffers, protecting us from floods, storms, and droughts.
- Host wildlife: Wetlands are homes for animals, birds, and plants that we enjoy watching and studying.
- Entertain us: Wetlands offer opportunities for kayaking, swimming, running, or just a peaceful walk.
- Give us jobs in areas like fishing, tourism, and conservation, sustaining livelihoods and boosting incomes.
- Help us cope with global warming: They store carbon and reduce emissions, slowing the rate of warming, improving the air we breathe, and protecting our health.
- Provide us with water: they act as natural filters, giving us cleaner water to drink and use.
- Regulate our climate: They cool down our cities during heatwaves, helping us enjoy a more comfortable life.
- Supply us with food: They enrich the soil to grow crops and provide water for fish and other food sources.
- Help us unwind: they’re ideal for relaxing, connecting with nature, and escaping the stresses of daily life.
- Remind us of our roots: they are tied to traditions, memories, and stories where we can reconnect with our history and culture.
